During this time, Potiphar thinks that Joseph has done wrong, so he sends him to prison. When in Egypt, Joseph served Potiphar, one of Pharaoh's officers. One day, they sold him to a band of Ishmaelites. By the way, Jacob's name was changed to Israel. After a time Jacob leaves to go back to Canaan where he grew up. Laban has two daughters Leah and Rachel who marry Jacob. Jacob finally reaches the house of Laban, Rebekah's relatives. He had a dream about a ladder going to heaven with angels descending and ascending. While Jacob was traveling, he lays down to rest. Isaac doesn't want Jacob to marry the women from the area, so he sends Jacob to Rebekah's relatives. So Jacob receives the blessing of the firstborn son. Jacob tricks his brother out of his birthright. There was another son named Ismael, but that is a story for another day. One day, the Angel of the Lord tells Abraham and Sarah that they will have a son. He tells Abram to leave his family and the Lord will make him into a great nation.Ībraham and his wife Sarah were old and did not have any children. God saw what they were doing and decided that this was not a good idea, so he confuses their languages.Īfter many years, God sees Abram (Abraham). They wanted the Tower of Babel to reach heaven.
